EXCEL TEMPLATE - ENGLISH + ESPAÑOL

Capacity & Bottlenecks

Can you take that new order or not? Stop answering by gut feel: this template crosses your demand with your real hours, points at the bottleneck and lets you simulate what happens if demand grows or you add overtime.

What you get

→ Real hours per resource

Shifts, days, weeks and OEE of each resource: effective capacity comes out by itself, not the catalogue one.

→ Demand converted to hours

Annual units per part number x cycle time = hours needed per resource. Your plant's load, in numbers.

→ Load vs capacity with traffic light

Utilisation per resource in green (healthy), amber (at the limit) or red (you won't make it). The bottleneck names itself.

→ Scenario simulator

Raise demand by 15%, add 8 overtime hours to the bottleneck and see what happens before committing to the customer.

→ Clear verdict

If the bottleneck survives the simulation, the template tells you: you need more OEE, SMED or shifts - not more overtime.

→ PDF guide (4 pages)

How to gather demand and cycle times fast, how to read utilisation and which levers to pull per colour. EN/ES.

Single bilingual file: headers and instructions in Spanish and English. Calculation cells are locked so nobody breaks the formulas; you only type in the input cells.

What it looks like inside

Load vs capacity per resource with traffic light and bottleneck
Utilisation per resource with traffic light: the bottleneck names itself.
Capacity scenario simulator with verdict
Simulate more demand or overtime and read the verdict before saying yes.

How it works

  1. Enter your resources: shifts, hours, days, weeks and an honest OEE. Effective hours come out for each one.
  2. Dump annual demand per part number with its resource and cycle time: the template converts it to hours.
  3. Read Load vs capacity: utilisation and the traffic light tell you which resource rules (that's your bottleneck).
  4. Simulate before deciding: more demand, overtime on the bottleneck or both. If it survives, you know what's next.

The question 'can we take this?' gets answered in 20 minutes with this template - before saying yes to the customer and discovering the bottleneck halfway through the order.

Who it's for

For the plant, production or general manager of an industrial SME who signs orders without knowing if the factory can handle them, or suspects there's a bottleneck but has never put it in numbers.
